Our Story

Light&Shadows began as a small farmstead in the hills outside Albuquerque. What started as a love of collecting — old keys, strange books, dried botanicals from the desert floor — gradually became something more. We'd find stray cats in the arroyos, bring them in, feed them, and eventually find them homes. The two things just fit together.

A curiosity shop that also rescues cats. The name came naturally: every quiet corner has both — the things that catch the light and the things that live in the shadows. Both deserve attention. Both deserve a home.

The Shop

We curate a rotating collection of antiques, vintage objects, handcrafted goods, and botanical oddities. Much of it comes from estate sales, thrift stores, and the occasional mysterious box left anonymously on our porch. We take our time — no mass-produced goods, nothing that doesn't have a story or at least a strong vibe.

The Rescue

Our rescue is foster-based. We take in stray and surrendered cats from the greater Albuquerque area, give them medical care, evaluate their temperaments, and work to place them in the right homes. We don't do high-volume. Every cat gets attention, and we try to make sure the placement lasts.

If you're interested in adopting, volunteering, or donating, we'd love to hear from you.
